Destination Wedding at Belvedere Vienna & Palais Coburg

Getting Ready and First Looks

As a wedding photographer, Belvedere Vienna is a location that never gets old. But before we even got there, this day already had me. Some brides spend their wedding morning checking timelines. She spent hers drawing. A portrait for every single guest, one by one, by hand. That told me everything I needed to know about this woman and this day. When her mom saw her in her dress for the first time, the room just fell apart. Happy tears, the best kind. And when he finally saw her, that was it. No words. Just that look. Vienna was right outside the window and the most incredible day was still ahead of us.

The Ceremony at Belvedere Chapel

The Belvedere chapel is small and that is exactly the point. A string quartet, the people who matter most, and nothing between you and the moment. People had flown in from across the world to sit in that room and not one of them held it together. Honestly, neither did I. There is something about watching two people choose each other in a place this beautiful that just gets you every time.

Portraits at Belvedere Museum & In Front of Klimt’s The Kiss

She had dreamed of this. The grand staircase of the Belvedere museum, the art on the walls, the light coming through those windows. And then we got to The Kiss. They stood in front of it and just looked at each other and I completely forgot to breathe. Klimt painted that over a hundred years ago and somehow it felt like it was made for this exact moment, for these two people, on this exact day in Vienna.

Horse Carriage Through the City

After Belvedere we had the city. A horse carriage through the centre of Vienna, portraits near the Rathaus with that incredible facade behind them. Just the two of them, finally alone together after all the emotion of the day, laughing and taking it all in. Vienna at its most beautiful. And then the carriage pulled up to Palais Coburg and everyone they loved was already inside waiting for them.

The Dinner at Palais Coburg

Palais Coburg is one of those venues that does not need anything added to it. And this evening needed nothing either. Dinner, speeches, games, laughter that kept going because nobody was ready to stop. Guests had come from all over the world and you could feel it, that particular energy of people who rarely get to be in the same room together making the most of every single minute. This wedding was featured in Destination I Do. Looking back at these images, I completely understand why.

A City That Does This To People

Vienna makes people want to get married here. The art, the architecture, the feeling that every corner of this city was built for exactly this kind of day. A chapel ceremony at Belvedere Vienna, a kiss in front of Klimt, a horse carriage through the streets and dinner at Palais Coburg. If this is the kind of day you are dreaming of, get in touch.
